December 2014

Well, the end of the year has proven to be a busy time of the year for me.  Everyone wants their surgery before the end of the year!  This has been great for me, but, I looked up and Christmas snuck up on me!  For that reason, blogging has gone by the wayside.  But here is a look into the last month.

Got the tree up!  This is actually Kaimi and Curt's old tree...we love it, works perfectly in our house!  It sure took a lot more ornaments than our old one did that is for sure.  We changed to a red and green tree this year, too.  I think Maddie will like that better in the future.

 The stockings were hung.

Did I ever mention we found a dining room table on Craig's list?!

Headed to church one December AM...these two are always frolicking.
 Little Miss Mess Pot.

Headed to church with her bible.  Ok, yes, we match again, that may or may not have been on purpose. ;)
  Can I bottle this laugh?

  "Gain" she says!

Headed to the church Christmas party.  This is the extent that Maddie ever messed with the tree.  She loved looking at it...from a distance.  She didn't like touching it...at all.  Ha, lucky me!

Mikayla and Maddie.  They LOVE each other.  This is Maddie's church friend.  Mikayla keeps Maddie occupied in church most Sundays!

This is the best smile I got that Sunday.
But Robert sure had a pretty smile!

 Our sweet little candy cane.
This kiddo gives out kisses to her Daddy like candy.

 Headed in for another!

These next two absolutely melt my heart.

 Looking at her ornament.

  Blowing kisses to the photographer.

 Look at that little tummy...

School Days.
Recently, Maddie has not wanted to get dressed in the mornings, talk about a fun time we have some mornings, I rest my case.
She will even hide from me!  Can you find her?

 WHAT A TOOT!
Ok, that's better.  She will break out the smiles to wish her dear cousin Collin a Happy Birthday!
Here she is waving to him...
 And of course, blowing kisses.

I wake early in the AM to get an hour or two of work in (always endless charting to do) to allow this little beauty some extra zzzz's.  I mean, how can you wake this early?!
 Christmas party at school.
Now she says "CHEESE!"
 What a face!
I love how she is chomping on a big piece of cheese here...as she says, "Cheese" for the camera.

Getting ready for Christmas.

Putting Maddie's kitchen together...let's just say it took longer than expected.

 I love getting Christmas cards!
Finally got the presents wrapped...with a few days to spare.  I always wish that I had them done earlier because they make the tree prettier, but clearly, I'm not that mom that has it all together.  I was just grateful I didn't have all bags this year.  :)
Opening presents on Christmas Eve.  This is when Maddie really began to take a turn for the worse.  Poor baby, she didn't feel well.  You can tell by her eyes in some of these pictures.  Little did we know that after this, we would spend the rest of the night in Cook Chilrens' Urgent care.
Checking out her new kitchen...

Headed on to the Lego table! Thanks Nana and Papa!  This is the first Christmas we haven't spent with family since my early residency . We missed everyone so much.  But I had to remind myself that for the better part of 364 days of the year we have been blessed to be healthy and there are so many that are sick much longer than a few days.  We just happened to draw the unlucky straw of getting the flu on Christmas.  :)

From this point forward, we didn't get many pictures of Maddie looking at the camera, she was too focused.
 Clearly.

We saw this at a store we go to when we go to Comanche and it always keeps her occupied while we are there so we knew it would be a shoe in...and it was!
We had to force her to move on to her other gifts!
Notice the lego still in her hand. :)

 Oooh, clothes...Mommy's favorite! :)
 Next...
 Dishes!

 Back to the kitchen.

Our little gift did not want a bow...
BUT, every gift needs a bow! ;)

 Wash your hands.

This is what Maddie has been doing a lot of... my poor baby.  But she is one tough little cookie for sure.

Because girlfriend does not have enough clothes.
Well, Maddie may not have been excited, but Daddy looks like he is!
 Books!

 Stocking time.

Maddie LOVES chapstick, now she has her own!
My turn.  I had to work on Christmas Eve, but I get the day after Christmas off to make it a long weekend!

I got lots of jewelry and much needed dress socks!  But the best of all were these sweet kisses.

A Christmas CD to add to my collection!
Daddy's turn!  He got a gun as his big gift.  Because one more gun is like one more pair of shoes for me (or that is what I have to keep telling myself).  I didn't get many pictures of us opening, we had to cut it short when little one started to really look bad.
Daddy had some good help.
Is this his Mini-Me or what?!

About that time, Maddie started getting really quiet and glossy-eyed.  She was a little heat ball, too.  We checked her temperature and it was 102.2.  Flu has been going around so we decided to go ahead and take her in. So we went to Cook's Urgent Care where we spent pretty much the rest of the night.  We left with a diagnosis of influenza...and I am pretty sure LOTS of other germs.  There were so many sick kids there!  But we did by Christina's next door to get some to-go Mexican!  (I had a feeling that was going to be the best meal we were going to have for a few days.)
Christmas Day we spent our hours doing a whole lot of cuddling, rocking, and of course playing with new toys.  As you can see, most of the day, she already started to look better.  But it was touch and go.
Not a new toy...an "oldie" but a goodie!
Trying to stay hydrated.  When I changed her she looked like she had dropped a pound already.  She hardly ate anything all day.  She was a whopping 22 lbs at her visit.  Those PJs are 12 month!
 There's my smile!

Droplet precautions are out the door around here! ;)

Those eyes are still a little sickly...

 Tea Party!

 Book time...
And of course, back to the kitchen. I am not sure who she gets her love of the kitchen from...I know it is not me! ;)

 Microwaved bananas, yummy!

Lazy days.

Ha, look at what the humidifier did to girlfriend's hair!
Even Daddy took advantage of the lazy day weather.  This blog will be the first time he realizes I caught him in action. ;)

Well, that's a wrap (pun intended).  Not our intended plan for the holiday.  But we are making it.  I actually thought we were beyond the worst as we put Maddie down last night, but after I put her down and walked away, I later heard a terrible sound.  I rushed in to find that she had thrown up all over herself.  SOOO, back to the tub we went to get it out of her hair/eyelashes...you name it.  So we will see.  Praying for a better day!
Merry Christmas!
Some Christmas cards from my favorite people on Earth.
Mom and Dad's card.

 Our card.
