Just Lazin'

This weekend we did a whole lot of nothing, which was A-OK with us!  It started off a ROUGH week for us.  Robert and I (along with my mom, Kaimi, Kate, and Collin...and eventually Will and Curt!) had a nasty gastroenteritis.  We will leave out the gory details and just say that Monday, we both stayed home (and in the bathroom).

Here is Robert just as the fun was beginning.  Poor baby, I snapped this before I knew the storm that was about to hit.  I guess I should not have commented on how tough I was for not ever getting sick, ha!

Thank goodness it lasted only about 18 hours so we only missed one day of work.  I actually had already asked for the day off because I had a scheduled interview so I had to reschedule that...of all days!  I was even more grateful that Madelyn did not get it.  I have only vomited a few times in my life, so whenever I do, I feel like I am dying.   Let's just say it feels so good to feel good!

We lazed the day away on Saturday and Sunday headed to church.  Here are a few pictures...

How I love those little cheeks!
To quote Forrest Gump and the good old Almond Joy commerical, "Life is like a box of chocolates"...
"sometimes you feel like a" picture,
"sometimes you don't!  Let's just say this is how church went today.  Oh well, there is always next Sunday :)

On Cloud 9

On cloud 9 with this little angel...

This past month has been a whirlwind, with Christmas and the New Year come lots of traveling!  I feel like we lived out of our suitcases for the past month!  The first few weeks of this month were rough for our little one (and her mama), but the night before Christmas we discovered why...her first tooth made its appearance!  "All I want for Christmas"....as the old song goes I guess!  Maddie has officially now had most of her "FIRST" holidays...we just have Valentines and a Birthday to go I guess.  (tear drop here)

9 Month Milestones

My Tinkerbell -- Maddie has always been on the smaller size, she still can wear 3-6 month in her little footed-PJs and wears clothes that are either 6 month or 6-9 month in size.  She is about a 1.5 in shoe size.  She has a little foot that has to be stuffed into a one, but seems to drown in 2's...so we still go without a lot! :)

Milk Monster -- Well, baby girl still loves her mama's milk.  I really worried this month because after her colds she would only eat milk and wouldn't have anything to do with solid foods.  She didn't drop much weight though.  Thankfully, in the last week, she has picked up eating again.  She still is not as quick as she used to be eating, but at least she eats!  Her favorites are oatmeal, squash, Nana's mac n cheese, yogurt melts, and baby snack puffs.  We also just found out that girlfriend loves her some dippin' dots!  Beggars cannot be choosers, so we honestly are just happy she is eating at this point.  We will work on more variety next month...and hopefully catching up on the growth chart a little.

Sleeping Beauty -- At daycare Maddie does NOT sleep well at all.  Poor baby, it breaks my heart.  I know she comes home exhausted.  They say she is not fussy though.  At home, however, when we can operate on her schedule, she is actually a very good napper and is very predictable.  On the weekends, she loves to go to bed with the chickens and rises to catch that worm!  She takes three naps a day ranging anywhere from 1-2 hours each nap.  As for sleeping through the night...that is but a "dream".  Most nights she wakes 1-2 times.  I consider it a successful night when she only wakes once.  I know we should work on letting her cry it out at this point, but I also know I don't see her as much as I would like to during the day.  So most nights, I am thankful for our extra cuddle time....even if that comes at 2 am.  :)

Morning Sunshine! -- She is still a little morning baby.  She wakes bright eyed and bushy tailed, ready to tackle the day.  When she is up, she is a little go-getter and in to everything!  She has gotten facile with crawling and is pulling up on things now.  She is still not cruising on furniture yet, which, to be honest, I am a little thankful for.  :)  She is hard enough to keep up with now!  She loves all of her Christmas toys, but even more, she loves the computer cords, our cell phones, and the tassels on my couch pillows...and let's not forget about tissue paper (but NOT when it is used to wipe her little nose!)  Even more than toys, she loves rough-housing with her little Daddy.  You should hear her cackle when he tickles her, it brings so much joy to my heart.  She is also quite the little flirt.  She loves for you to chase her!  We have also started Baby Can Read which Aunt K and Uncle Curt got her for Christmas.  We have been very faithful about doing it and she has really started to pick up on things.  It was after just a few days watching the video that she started to clap.  We will see if she is reading soon! haha

Hello Beautiful! -- Maddie has learned to wave hello and bye-bye...oh, melt my heart when she does it, too! Want to wake up at 2 am and play, just wave to me and sure, go ahead!

More waves!

If you are happy and you know it...CLAP your hands! -- Baby girl has also started to clap on command.  It seems like in the last few weeks she has been a little sponge, doing new things daily it seems.

I prayed for Patience...and God is helping me daily with that.  On that note, I am STILL waiting for a "Mama" to come out of those sweet little lips.  Yep, Dada just seems to roll right off her tongue, as does just about every other consonant expect those M's and N's.  Poor Nana and me...we may be waiting a while to hear our names.  Until then, I'll just keep hugging this little angel...

Madelyn's 9 Month Photo Shoot

They call Maddie a social butterfly at day care...she LOVES playing with other children and watching bigger children play.  We saw Will, Kate, and Collin this weekend, she loves spending time with them.  I feel like she learns something new every time we see them!

Looks like someone is trying to make a friend here, too...

This look gets me every time...

In to EVERYTHING these days.  Makes for an interesting photo shoot that is for sure! :)
 "Are you talking to me?"
Well, I think that little backside is just about as cute as the front side!  No more bald spot! :)
Oh, the things we can get into now...
 What is under the bed?!
 And she's off!
Yes, I know the angle is bad...but I just could not resist, look at that gummy grin.  Sad I can only see if from this angle now.

So thankful for our Nana and Papa, gifts beyond measure.
Saturday we got to celebrate this little angel...TWO years old!  Where does time go?
One thing is for sure, these babies are the light of our lives!
