Happy 2 months baby girl! Whoever knew that 8 weeks could bring so much change into your life. In two short months, we have met the love our lives, Madelyn, and continue to fall more in love with her daily.
This last month has been an exciting one. It seems that each day brings about new things. We have our two month check up coming up soon, so we will keep you updated on Maddie's stats! But, in the meantime, Robert is our little statistician and measures/weighs her frequently. She is growing like a little weed (our sweet little weed). Last weekend she weighed in at 9 pounds and 6 ounces. We looked it up and that put her in the 20th percentile for weight at that time (she was in the 15th percentile at birth). It breaks my heart that I have already put away most of her newborn clothes...but I cling onto a few left that still fit!
Maddie's Milestones for the Month:
* Sweet smiles -- This month there is not doubt those smiles are for us...and she smiles all the time! She is such a happy, smiley baby. My favorite smiles are those that come in the middle of the night. Sometimes (ok, most of the time) it is hard to wake up at 2am, but seeing that smile makes it worth it.
* Rolling baby -- At about 6 and half to 7 weeks Maddie rolled over! Don't believe us?!...well, we even caught it on video. She is still not much for tummy time, so she just rolls herself over, something tells me that when she starts to walk we will have our hands full! :)
* Bath time Baby -- Though she still doesn't like tummy time much, she has started to like bath time! She just sits quietly in the tub (smiling usually) as we sud her up. She especially loves getting her hair washed (but she has always loved that). I can see lots of mommy/daughter visits to the salon in our future! ;)
* So long "N" -- Well, we have not officially put the Newborn diapers away just yet, but I think that will happen any day now. She has had one official blow out, the next one we said would be the last. We may should have already gone up to size one's, but I begged Robert to buy "just one more package" of Newborn diapers...oh, my sweet baby is growing up too fast.
* "Coo-la-la" -- Maddie is babbling away. Most of the time it is just vowel sounds, but occasionally we get a consonant-vowel combo..."a-coo" is my favorite! She loves it when we mimic her sounds back to her. Yes, this breeds more of those adorable little smiles.
* Trackster -- She has been tracking things for a while, I cannot recall if this was in her first month or at the start of her second, but she can track things a full 180 degrees, no sweat!
* No more Newborn -- The "newborn" time frame is clasically the first 30 days after birth, so we are clearly out of that time period. That being said, you would think that I would be ok putting away her Newborn clothes...nope, not at all. This last weekend, I was straightening out her closet/drawers and it killed me to put away those adorable little onesies/nighties that used to be a little big on her and now fit her like her mama's pre-pregnancy jeans.
* One-hit-wonder -- Well, we can scratch my last post. You know, the one where I said that our baby girl had begun to sleep through the night. Yes, that was definately a fluke. The next night she actually went back to her old ways...and I mean old ways (as in 2-week old days) and she only slept in two hour blocks! Thank goodness that was just a fluke, too! We are now back into our 4-5 hour blocks of sleep time at night, and compared to two hours, 4 hours is a dream! Besides, over that and I start to get Madelyn withdrawl. :)
* Guns-up Girl! -- Ok, she is not getting those Red Raider Guns up just yet...yet atleast. But she is starting to move her fingers in more intricate patters. She loves moving her little fingers now, before it was mainly just clenched fists. She has started to try and suck her thumb. As she can see, we still have some work to go on this one! And no, Curt, this is not a "Gig 'Em Aggies" sign!
* So-long Swaddling -- Maddie was never to keen on being swaddled, but, because every book/video/nurse etc. recommends it now days, we did it. But, we have now realized that Madelyn is her own little person and rather than being all swaddled up, she loves to stretch out when she sleeps (she came by this honestly). Since we have never had a problem with her scratching those big eyes of hers we now just swaddle below her arms to keep her warm and she is one happy sleeper.
* Cuddle bunny -- I am so thankful that she is still the little cuddler that she was during her first month. She still loves napping on our chests. I absolutely love it! I love listening to her little sighs, watching her little facial expressions as she dreams, and smelling that oh-so-soft skin. I, too, have always been a cuddler...so she, in just another way, is my dream come true.
* Pleasant Passenger -- Madelyn did very well...at first, in her car seat. Yes, that lasted for about a month. Let's just say that Maddie realized this month that she was back there alone and didn't like that ONE bit. So, usually Robert is our handsome chauffer. This, however, made for LONG car trips (no matter how far they actually were) if we traveled alone with her. But, Mr. Googler (aka Daddy) found an Ipad holder for the car...turns out Maddie doesn't mind the car as much when she can help find Nemo! We don't intend to let TV/movies babysit our little one...but it sure does make car rides more tolerable, for now...or until she finds that Nemo!
* Mommy's girl -- She even said "Mama" this month!...haha, ok, so maybe not quiet yet, just seeing if you were still reading, but who knows, maybe next month! ;)
Two month Photo shoot
These sunglasses are still a little big...won't be long though!
You can see how big her little eyes are in these...she is still trying to figure them out!
What, already two months old?!
*A special thanks to sweet Katie for the purple bow, to aunt Christie for the little purple outfit, and Nana for the pink outfit. What would we do without so many people to love us!?
