Six Things I love about you, my love,
1. I love the way you take a little milk break to look up and bat your big brown eyes at me.
2. I love the sound of your sighs when you sleep.
3. I love the way you bury your head in my chest when you meet someone new.
4. I love the way you smell after a bath...and even not after a bath.
5. I love the way you flirt with your Daddy.
6. I love the softness of your skin next to mine.
6 Month Milestones
Open wide -- Yes, as I recently blogged, Maddie is venturing out of the land of milk and honey. We introduced her to rice cereal and now have added oatmeal to the menu which she actually seems to like better. In the next day or so we are going to introduce vegetables! I wish I could say that I was planning on making her baby food myself, but to be honest, I do good to get milk on the table some days. So, we will be turning to Chef Gerber for food soon! She is still going strong with 5-6 ounces per feeding at day care. She actually had another first...her first taste of Aunt K's milk! Most days I can stay up with her, but occasionally, with long days in the OR, I don't get to pump like I should. BUT, thankfully, I have some of Kaimi's stored milk to use instead of formula. I was nervous the first time she tried it, but girlfriend drank it like it was mine and never batted an eye! You know what they say...it takes a village to raise a child! :)Sitting Pretty -- FINALLY! I was beginning to get worried that she was not sitting up on her own, but you would know, the day before her 6 month appointment girlfriend decided to sit on her own, for over 20 seconds. From there, she didn't look back, now she is sitting up for minutes at a time. She still is not crawling, but she moves CONSTANTLY. She rolls everywhere!...we are going to have our hands full once she really get mobile. Gone are the days of "putting" her in any one place!
"Uppy" -- She was lifting her arms to be picked up a couple of months ago, but would only do it when prompted. Now, the second she sees Robert or I she throws her hands in the air. When does she do it the most?...to get out of that car seat of hers! Yes, I think Maddie takes after her mama when traveling in cars. It's funny though, she seems to get "car sick" when in her car seat, but the second you take her out, she immediately turns that frown upside down.
Exersaucer Sass -- She has always loved her exersaucer, but there were toys she didn't quite understand/like...until now! She has grown into everything on it now and rotates in a full 360 constantly to play with everything in its circle.
Growling Girl -- Madelyn is our little sponge, soaking up things on a day-to-day basis! The newest thing?...growling! Yes, she does this all the time now. The first time I heard it, I wondered where in the world this came from, certainly not from her mama! :) But, then I heard Robert playing with her one night and realized he does this when he plays with her and gets her to laugh. ha! Well, it may not be the most girly thing I have ever heard, but coming from that little girl-y girl it's pretty cute!
Still waiting -- yes, we have POSSIBLY heard da-da and ma-ma...but not enough to truly count. So until then, we will keep waiting and enjoy the sweet little ca/ba/la/ka/ma/dahi's...and of course, GROWLS!
Our little dynamite -- like they say, big things can come in small packages...and that is our little Maddie. She is still fitting into an occasional 3 month outfit, and usually 3-6 months clothes. I think we will be into true 6 month things soon. She did move up to size 3 diapers this month. Oh, how I remember when that sweet little bobo was in preemie
diapers!
Early Bird -- Girlfriend is still a little morning baby, which goes perfectly with our schedules. Who needs an alarms when you have this?!
6 Month Stats
Length -- 25 1/4 inches (30th %)
Weight -- 13 pounds 11 ounces (10th %) -- say what!?  How could those cheeks and chubby thighs be in the 10th percentile??  Well, I didn't believe the scales, so I weighed her the next morning at home and she was 14 pounds 11 ounces (putting her in the 20th percentile which is more believable).  My heart dropped when I thought that she was dropping on the weight curve, but her doctor was not worried after seeing in her short visit how active Maddie was, ha!
Head Circumference -- 16 3/4 inches (50%)
Our little family celebration...who wouldn't celebrate this little face?
Yes, nothing is safe within Maddie's arm reach!
Baby girl's first bouquet of roses...because a girl is never to young to get a dozen roses!
She also got to celebrate with Sunday with Nana and Papa, no better gift than these two!
No secrets girls!
What a happy day!
Our little family.  Thank you, God for allowing me to watch over one of your angels...I promise to handle her with tender, loving care.
