Heaven is a good word used to describe our "new" lives with this little angel God has so richly blessed us with. I remember the days when I wondered how I would ever have time to have a child...no I wonder how I ever lived without that child. God never ceases to amaze me. He always knows just what we need, even when we do not.
I actually missed Maddie's 7 month "birthday." For the first time ever, this week, I spent a night away from her. Spending the days away from her is hard enough! I had the Society of Surgical Oncology fellows conference in Cincinnati, Ohio this week. It was actually a great conference (I learned so much and saw a lot of old friends that I met on the interview trail) but, talk about getting home sick! Since our little Maddie G has not been sleeping through the night since she was about 2 months old, I have not had a night of "uninterrupted" (though they are sweet little interruptions) sleep. You would think that I would have taken advantage of my three night getaway, but I think that I have actually grown accustomed to those nightly "niblings" because I woke several times each night! BUT, Robert did tell me that on my last night there she slept through the night, SO, maybe I will get another chance myself!
On the flight home, as per my usual on trips, my flight was delayed. :( I was literally chomping at the bit to get home and pick up Maddie. One thing is for sure, I am so glad to be home and welcome a weekend to catch up on all the hugs, kisses, and cuddles that I missed!
Some pictures that helped me through while away.
Sipping some water before bed.
Here is baby girl early in the next morning, cannot quite get those little eyes open just yet.
Dressed and ready to go to day care! Oh, she looks so big here, I think it is because she is wearing a two piece outfit (complete with jeggings)...this makes me want to put her back in her little footed-pajamas ASAP!
Seble at daycare sent me picture texts while away, so sweet! Baby girl in her element at day care!
Cruising in the mini-van of strollers! Maddie is sitting by her friend Levi here, he is one month younger than her...I remember when he was half her size!
Daddy feeding Maddie for me while away...
We also face-timed, which I looked forward to each night after a long day of lectures and labs. Maddie was funny, I tried singing a few verses of my little song for her so "she would not forget me" and she hung up on me! Ha, guess the poor thing doesn't have that luxury at home. :)
My welcome home card! Those are Maddie's little hands, ha, she kept scrunching them when he was trying to trace them he said. LOVE it. So good to be home...

Maddie's 7 Month Milestones
Bottoms Up! -- So far so good with eating (Squash, carrots, green beans, sweet potatoes, peas, and water) have all been introduced and we have not had any problems. I guess I will start fruits next! I know she will love them. This is what I really craved during pregnancy with her, especially MANGOES! So, I'm betting these will be her favorites. So far, I think her favorite is still mama's milk. ;) She loves her high chair that is for sure. Guess it is out with the Bumbo now.
Daddy's Girl -- She is saying "da da" a lot, still non-discriminately, however. BUT, still no ma-ma. She has started having little "conversations" with lots of inflections and pitch changes. They are the cutest little things. Yesterday, she was so excited in the car that I could not even talk to Robert because we could not hear over her jabbering!
Gummy Bear -- Still my little Gummy Bear, not a tooth in that sweet little smile yet. Not that I am complaining, nothing sweeter than that gummy smile!
My little Dynamite -- Big hearts come in small packages that is for sure. She is still small for size, wearing 3-6 month and 6 month sizes. Still in a size 3 diaper...
Maddie-Moo -- I often call her my Maddie-Moo, especially when I am talking Will...and rightfully so, that girl is a "Moo-ver" and a shaker! Well, shockingly she still is not crawling, but girlfriend rolls everywhere and in every direction. I keep waiting for it to happen. But, thankfully, it did not happen while I was away!
Trouble Ahead! -- Girlfriend is infatuated with out phones. You cannot have it anywhere in eyesight or she cannot concentrate on her task at hand. Oh, little does she know she won't be getting one until she is in college (Ha, I am sure that will go over well when I tell her "When I was your age I didn't get a cell phone until college"!)
Curly-Sue -- Her hair is starting to really fill in, especially her little bald spot from the "back is best" campaign. I rest my case...
7 Month Photo Shoot
You never know how the mood will be, but girlfriend had just woken from a nap and had a bath, so it was all smiles today! Unfortunately, some of the pictures are the wrong orientation and I cannot figure out how to flip them! But, I cannot help but include some of those smiles!
I wondered how long it would be before she discovered the feathery fountain behind her...NOT LONG!
She loves it as much as I do! Nana made it for her...we love it to this day. It has come all the way from Iowa with us...it hung at her baby shower, on her door at the hospital, and hangs in her nursery today. Who knows, I may find a place for it at her wedding! (Ok, let's not even think about that!)
After photo shoot play time with Daddy!
Foot massage?
Head Massage?
Happy 7 months our Angel, one thing is for sure, you are our piece of Heaven.
