I have been meaning to do a post on an update on Maddie's progress. I have always worried that she did not speak as much as I thought she should. The doctor never worried, but as a mama, I DID! However, come about a month ago, that girl has become a little polly parrot...and her constant talking could not be a sweeter sound to this Mama's ears! Thank God for answered prayers.
She has always been able to say things if you ask her to, but I worried that nothing seemed spontaneous...until now. She is constantly naming things as we pass by. On the way to school she can list about 6 of the 10 kids in her class (Hazel, Mayan, "RoRo", Collin, Sebastian, Ella, and of course Ms. Kelly and Ms. Dana). On the way home, it is so cute, as we near our house, she yells, "It's my house!" She knows all her colors, most animals, even rare ones, and numbers up to about ten, though she doesn't have the order yet on her numbers. We are working on letters now. Daily I am amazed at new words she knows.
Her favorite phrases at the moment:
"Mommy/Daddy, Come on!"
"No, I can do it"
"Watch me!"
"I'm a big girrrrl"
"I did it!"
"Mommy, Daddy, I potty!"
And still, my personal favorite, "I love you"
Maddie is definitely a pleaser. She loves attention and will do anything that gets praise. She not likes one parent's eyes on her at all times...no, that is not enough...she likes BOTH of us to watch her tricks. And boy, she is a bag of tricks let me tell you.
She loves to jump, run, and swing Bitty Baby.
She also loves having tea parties with her friends (she lays out all her dishes and fills their plates).
She loves reading to her friends (Margot the Turtle, Bitty Baby, Timmy the Turtle, and of course BOO)
She likes singing songs.
Her favorites at the moment are Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, Row Row Row Your Boat, Baaa Baaa Black Sheep, You are My Sunshine, and 10 Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed. She is actually pretty good, I will hear her singing one of them in the other room and can identify the song bases on the tune.
Sometimes, she likes photo shoots...I stress SOMETIMES. Here was one of those days.
Bath time. We hear lots of "I clean!" in the bathtub.
More pre-school pictures.
Saturday AM with Mama while Daddy doing a service project for church. Us girls were roughing it, clearly. My Mama used to call these "Hen Parties"
But, she was glad when Daddy got home that was for sure. Look at that cool cat!
And guess who has started wearing Panties?! Well, we are not potty trained yet, but that is the only way I could get to take interest in the potty. :) So, she chooses panties every AM now...that go over her diaper. But she is doing great at sitting on the potty. Today she actually tee tee'd at home on it. She has several times at school because they work to teach them there, too. It won't be long I'll bet. So, I'll cherish every sweet diaper I change for now.
Could life be any sweeter?
Our A/C did go out this week. We thought we had to rough it, but then were so thankful the other half of the house still had A/C so we all moved to the guest room. We tried to sleep with Maddie, but that girl moves so much we both woke up within an hour black and blue from her kicking us. So we had to set this up! Ha, poor thing was so tired she slept through the night in this little thing. BUT, it is fixed now, so we are all back in our comfy beds. Oh, yet another thing we reminded ourselves to be thankful for...A/C in the Texas heat!
