January 2016...can you believe another year is upon us?
We started off the year with a some hiccups by landing in the ER. Poor Nana has been very ill. You name it, she had it (mono, walking pneumonia, hypokalemia, anemia...) She is slowly getting better but it will be a little while before she is back to 100%. We have been praying daily for her recovery and know that God will give her strength back.
We did get to celebrate Katie-belle's 4th birthday! It was at a Dance studio and all the little girls had such a good time. I was worried Maddie may respond to it like she did Santa (you know, talk about if for weeks, then when it comes time to step on the dance floor/sit in Santa's lap, tears erupt) BUT, she loved it! Well, she was not a dancing queen per se, she really acted like Kate's little shadow and went wherever Kate went.
I mean, what tops this!?
That Curt is such a good little Daddy/Uncle.
We love our little Kate and are thankful that God brought her into this world four years ago. She is such a sweet little spirit who has so much love to offer this world. It is made brighter with her smile.
I made a New Years resolution this year, which is not common for me. I tried to stay away from the common, you know, weight loss, drink more water blah blah blah. I am going to work on my spiritual walk with God this year, and hope to make every year that same resolve. I am doing a daily devotional, listening to the bible on my way to work and have quit listening to my normal "Top 40" stations and switched to Christian stations. I found myself very overwhelmed with work at one point. Not so much the work itself, but the heavy burden of telling so many women that they have cancer. I spent much time in prayer and realized through that, that God put me on this Earth for a reason and put me in this position for a reason. I will strive to show women His light in their darkness. So, I will continue to pray for peace and understanding. I also continue to pray that He gives me wisdom and guides my hands. I often think of my favorite verses in the bible out of Isaiah when I feel troubled with the weight of the task or world:
28Do you not know?
Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He will not grow tired or weary,
and his understanding no one can fathom.
29He gives strength to the weary
and increases the power of the weak.
30Even youths grow tired and weary,
and young men stumble and fall;
31but those who hope in the Lord
will renew their strength.
They will soar on wings like eagles;
they will run and not grow weary,
they will walk and not be faint.
Enough about me...here are some Maddie updates:
I cannot believe in a few short months we will have a three year old. She will always be my baby...but now she tells me "I not your baby...I BIG girrrrl" Oh, my heart strings pull at the sound of it.
She is a little jabber box. She not only repeats all we say, but also comes up with her own commentary.
Sometimes she will see me do something and say, "You so silly!" or "You silly goose!" My favorite is when out of the blue she comes up, looks deep into my eyes and then says "I love youuuu."
When we ask what she wants to be when she grow up she says "DOCTOR!" That's my girl ;)
She is also quite the little song bird. She LOVES to sing and we often hear her humming songs even when she by herself playing.
She likes to sing with us best of all, but is VERY specific in her song requests. She has names for all of her favorites.
Mama's song is -- You are my sunshine
Daddy's song is -- Twinkle Twinkle
Nana's song is -- I'll take a leg from some old table (not sure of the name of that one?)
Papa's song is -- Where Oh Where
Boo's song (yes, even Boo has a song) is -- Old McDonald
We are working on potty training. I know, I feel as though I am behind, but poor girl, I am never home long enough to work with her. But, I am thankful that Primrose does work with them. She now goes all day in big girl panties at Primrose (going both 1 and 2 in the potty!) BUT...when she gets home she will only do it occasionally. That kiddo! Oh well, I honestly will miss changing that sweet little bobo!
She is very coordinated. She loves running, jumping and now has gotten the hang of swinging herself of the swing!
She likes school, her two best friends at school are Ella and Hazel.
Some before school shots.
Notice she has boots on here! For the longest she would not wear boots, then all of a sudden one day she wanted to...and now we have to work to find something to wear them almost daily! Ha.
She definitely likes to have a hand in picking out her own clothes.
This is what happens when Mama decides to go in late so little one gets to sleep in...
Breakfast on the couch watching Peppa Pig, heaven!
Somebody still has curly cue hair...so it very slowly looks like it gets longer. But now we can have pigtails!
She is still a good little eater and just hit the 30 pound club! She still has pretty much the same favorites:
Cuties
Chips and Queso
Dunkin Donut's Kolachis
Sonic French Fries
Unfortunatley, we did learn that she has severe tree nut allergies (ie, peanuts, walnuts, pistachios) Poor baby, a life without nuts...even worse, no Peanut butter?!
Whew, talk about a rough visit. Glad I am not a pediatric allergist. Poor baby, had huge whelps on her back, who would like this?! I took this picture mainly because she was going so crazy I was afraid the tape would come off and we would not know what she was allergic to, so I needed to keep track. She finally settled down so we kept the markers on! Glad that is behind us. We now have Epi pens just in case.
Current favorite pastimes:
Puzzles (she is quite the little problem solver)
Magnetiles
Baby dolls and Tea parties
Some of my favorite, Maddie "Snap Naps". Poor thing, we both leave early for work...it is so hard waking this little face up. We need to work on getting a Nanny so that she does not have to wake so early.
And finally, to honor the weekend...some weekend fun.
Have I said before how much I love Texas (75 degrees in January!)
Popcorn and a movie...
Almost got those guns up!
Here's to more fun in the sun!
