Happy Birth"week" Robert!

Because this little Daddy deserves more than a day...

Robert had a birthday celebration week!  (Guess that is a perk of your birthday falling mid-week...you get to celebrate two weekends!)  Last weekend we had a mini celebration with my parents when they came down for Collin's blessing.  I guess that was the official kick-off.  On his real birthday (August 13th, a Tuesday this year) he was greeted with this little present, bow included!
The cuteness just keep coming... ;)  This is Madelyn's signature pose for the moment, she is a very pensive little girl!

Tuesday night I cooked dinner (for those of you who know me well, know it must have been a special occasion! ha)  I made chicken alfredo and salad, complete with sweet tea!  Unfortunately, I did not think it was my best work, but it's the thought that counts, right?!  Robert did go back for seconds though.  I love the background of this picture, captures our life right now to a tee.  Baby shampoo, dish soap, cetaphil and bottles everywhere.  Six months ago I would have cringed at the thought of all that counter clutter, now it makes my heart smile.
I picked up these "bunditinis" from Nothing Bundt Cakes to celebrate.

Robert was able to blow out all his candles, with a little help, of course!
We then opened presents...I put Maddie by his gifts...I think she is the gift of the year, for both of us!

Helping Daddy read his cards...
HA! Girlfriend was getting hungry at this point. (What is new?!)  She smiles about 99% of the time...except when she is hungry.  This face captures her attitude perfectly in that remaining 1%.  Oh, how I love that little girl...even during those times!
Then, it was back to the ho-hum of the work week...until the weekend!  Friday night we had a date night at Cantina Laredo, one of Robert's new favorites.  Nana and Papa spoil us, dinner was on them, which made it even better!   Kaimi offered to keep Maddie for us, but Robert refused to part with her, even for a couple of hours.  That boy is whipped! :)  This is how Maddie spent dinner, though.  She was worn out from daycare I guess.  It couldn't be the company, right?!
Saturday we didn't do much, Robert had a hard work week so he just wanted to "laze" (an Escobar colloquialism that we will, of course, introduce to Maddie) around for the weekend.  We did wake early, which is what you do with a 4 month old (and an Escobar in the house), to go for our usual stroll around the lake.  It was a beautiful morning, 68 degrees, reminded me of Iowa mornings.  :)
Who needs a sweat band when you have a bow band?!

This picture captures Madelyn's little attitude just perfectly now.  She has gotten to where she takes longer to eat because she can't quit smiling at you, it is no wonder she has stolen our hearts.
We did also take our 4Runner in so that the front windows could be tinted (unfortunately we could not get it done when we bought it because it is illegal in Iowa to have the front windows tinted, guess it doesn't get hot enough to justify it!)  That was my gift to Robert, now he has a pretty slick little ride if I don't say so myself.  Well, it doesn't compare to my little Z (oh, I do miss that little car, but I guess a two-seater isn't that conducive to a car seat is it?!  Oh, the sacrifices!)
Headed to church on Sunday.  We won't talk about how that went...
Let's just say this picture in the car ride to church was the last peaceful moment we had for the AM!  Poor girl, she LOVES to talk...and unfortunately, she does not know the meaning of "shhhh" just yet.  I think she was talking right back to that preacher!  Hey, maybe she was giving him an "amen!?"

 "Amen!"

After her Sunday afternoon nap, she woke up refreshed and ready to head to the Rangers game.  This girl loves her Daddy...if you cannot tell by the look in her eyes!
 Love these two.  32 years old...practically a baby raising a baby! ;)
