Eight months?  It feels as though yesterday I was writing her seventh month blog.  This last month has been a whirlwind it seems.
As the old saying goes..."The apple doesn't fall far from the tree."  Here she is, technically at 7 3/4 months, in my old baby clothes, ha!  The classics never go out of style!...or maybe I just had a fashion forward little Mama! :)  This quilt was made by my Aunt Dyanna for me when I was born, I love it!  I can think of no one other than this little angel that I had rather give it to.
8 Month Photo Shoot
Oh, how she is the apple of my eye.
Sitting pretty...yes, we have sitting mastered, she even will do a sit up from the lying position.
This is how she is at most times now... While we are not crawling in the traditional sorts just yet, she scoots/army crawls everywhere.  And she is getting quicker by the day, too!
Looks at those booties, adorable, right?!  There was even a matching bonnet, but it was a little snug (and girlfriend did NOT like it one bit!)  So, she got this big bow instead ;)
Everything still goes right to the mouth.
 I rest my case...

 A breath of fresh air.
 Maddie's 8 Month Milestones
Tooty-Fruity -- Well, I was convinced that Madelyn would love fruits...seeing as how I scarfed them down the whole time I was pregnant with her.  But, to my surprise, girlfriend has not been a fan.  We have tried mangos, bananas, apples, and peaches...none of which have tickled her fancy.  Maybe I should try lemons! :)  BUT, I am determined, no kid of mine can shun fruit!  We will keep trying I guess.  Her little face when she tastes them are pretty funny, too.  But nothing takes the prize like her face when we give her iron!  I know some "fruit" she does love though...PEACH yogurt melts (that counts, right?)  Nana introduced those at Thanksgiving and there was no looking back.  She likes those almost as much as Nana's macaroni and cheese.  Hmmm, no fruits and mac and cheese...that may not be a good thing!
Babbling Baby -- Maddie just babbles away.  We have all sorts of little "conversations" and she is most amused at herself.  For now she loves her D's, K's and G's...we are still waiting on M's!!
Yes, she still loves her phone!

Crawling Cutie -- Well, I am not sure I would call it a true crawl just yet.  But she is scooting everywhere.  She is quick as a little cat, too.  You put her down and she is off!  She can now scoot to the toy of her choosing, and believe me, she has her favorites!

Kaimi gave us this...the first time Madelyn saw it she puckered up and almost cried...now she LOVES it!  Oh, the difference only a few weeks makes.

Weather Girl -- Well, in true Texas style, this month has seen days in the 80's (ie, the day we took Christmas pictures -- in sweaters, no less) and days in the 20's (ie, today, the day I was scheduled to have an interview for a REAL job...which was cancelled for ice).
Yes, the outfit below is a summer outfit, but, I jumped at the chance to put these little seer sucker shorts on her...even if it was in November.  Have a mentioned how much I LOVE Texas!
We love living by the lake.  We head out there any time we get a chance!

How quick things change.  Ready to weather the ice!  Where's Maddie?!
 Peek a Boo!
Thanks for the coat Nana!  I think she approves...
All bundled up.
Cheese! -- Maddie had her first school pictures, here she is dressed and ready for picture day at daycare.  Robert had to get her dressed all by himself because I had to be to work early that morning.  I think he did great!  Let's just say the actual pictures weren't very good...we will leave it at that. haha

Turkey Trot -- Yes, we saw both sets of grandparents for the Thanksgiving holidays.  We went to see Robert's family the week before Thanksgiving.  It was a cold trip, it snowed on our way back.  A two hour trip turned into a four hour trip!  Baby girl was worn out.
We don't have to wait on Christmas for angels...

Oh, there is no feeling like this one...
Girls having a little fun...
If you cannot tell, I absolutely, positively adore this little girl.
Sick Baby -- Maddie has had a rough month.  Overall, she has always been a very healthy baby, but this month she has had a never ending cold.  Her little nose has run like a faucet and for the first time, she has had a cough.  This has made for a long month for all.  This month has seen frequent night time feedings and long rocking sessions.  We even took her in for a sick-baby visit because I was worried that she may have an ear infection.  Poor baby, it is never good to have a "Dr. Mama"...I  keep my stethoscope in her room and have listened to her lungs and checked her vitals on a daily basis during the worst parts of her cold.  I even have an old otoscope that I pulled out! ha.  I thought her ears looked ok but I wasn't sure because she gave me all of half a millisecond to look in her ear before she starting moving.  Guess, there is a reason I am not a pediatrician!
This month I stayed home for the first time with her...this is what I got to look at all day.  Poor baby, I held her all day, she wouldn't let me put her down in her crib...and that was ok.  Everyone needs their mommy to hold them when they are sick.
Sleeping Beauty.  Poor thing, her little cheeks were flushed with fever.

Clearly, our day was not all blissful.  Once we arrived home from the doctor's office, both the bow and the socks had come off!  I guess no girl should have to wear a bow when they are sick!
We cannot end the blog on that note!...
Santa Baby -- Maddie got to help decorate her first Christmas tree!

I don't need anything beneath the tree when I have these two gifts beside it...
Our first trip to Santa.  Where did my smiley baby go?!  She was laughing and playing with Robert the whole time we waited...he even tried to prime her up for the picture!  BUT, the second we put her in good Ol' Saint Nick's lap we got this... haha.
Here we are waiting in line...we were the last ones that made it into the line before it closed for the night, whew!  It's funny, we decided after work on Wednesday night to go because we were hoping to avoid the three hour wait that often comes with a Saturday trip.  I grabbed the clothes that Nana had gotten for her (we get Thanksgiving gifts, too?!) and away we went.  Once we saw they were still taking kids for the night, we ran to the "nursing room" in the mall to change little one.  I think she turned out pretty cute!
She couldn't take her eyes off all of the passers by...

 Now she smiles...
 Santa who?
25 minutes later...
Not that impressed, clearly.  Maybe he will grow on her!
Don't worry Santa, we will still leave some milk and cookies out for you!
