Rough Waters

Well, it has been quiet in the blog world here at the Seda home, mostly because of rough waters.  Last week at this time Maddie started running fevers of 102-104...and she continued to do so for the days to follow.  After a doctor visit ruling out the flu/an ear infection/pneumonia etc, we were sent home with the usual diagnosis of a "viral infection."  I have said this to multiple patients in my life at this point, but it is not until I have heard it while holding a burning up little baby knowing good and well that there is not much to do for it other than "supportive care" that I have really come to despise this diagnosis.  None the less, we have made it through the week, barely at times, it seems.  I know that poor Maddie has had it the worst, too.  Our nights have been spent crying/rocking/bouncing/coughing/and praying that God would restore our little Angel back to her sweet self.  I would say at this point she is at 90% her norm, though she still has a ferocious little cough that still keeps us all up at night.

We should have known...I call the little rash on her face below her "herald bleed."  I am probably the only one who knows what this term is, but it truly is.  Every time it appears an illness lies ahead.  This was in the last hours before "it" hit...and would be the last time in a while that she would eat anything but milk.

And so it began.  Her fever got so high we resorted to this little concoction...she didn't mind it at all!
 A new meaning to "doorag."
Oh, my poor baby.  We did a lot of rocking and cuddling...
This was the first day she got a little better.  I remember this moment distinctly, because it was the first time in days I saw her smile.  Her little eyes are still sick though.

This whole week Maddie has slept with us.  I don't mind at all, there is nothing sweeter than hearing her breathe at night (even if it is a congested grunting most of the time).  How can someone so little take up so much space though?!  Most of the time we formed an "H".  Guess the two that were hugging the edges of the bed and the little one that was horizontal in the middle? ;)  I caught these two as I headed out to round Saturday morning, oh, my heart melts.

As the weekend wraps up, we are thankful for hours to catch up on much needed sleep and of course, rocking.

A look back at the week prior...a much sunny-ier week at the Sedas.
A little grocery shopping.
She looks so big sitting in the cart by herself!
 Looking at EVERYTHING...except the camera!

 Loving the candy aisle!
Headed home from church...somebody was exhausted!  No sleep in church, especially in class! (We went to Eastridge with Curt and Kaimi to hear a very special speaker for class...CURT!)  It was definitely one of the best classes I have been to in a long time, and I'm not being partial either!
Enjoying 74 degree weather in January!  Love living by the lake that is for sure.  You cannot see great in the picture, but there were dozens of sailboats out that day, they caught Maddie's eye, but not as much as the ducks did!

We had to peel off some of her clothes at this point, socks included, girlfriend got hot!
I adore this girl if you cannot tell...
With all that walking, we earned some frozen yogurt.  Maddie does not look near as excited as her mama was for this treat!
First try of some frozen yogurt...
 hmmm...
Somebody was not too impressed.  We didn't mind helping her finish that cup up!

I totally swiped these pictures from Kaimi's blog (but I don't think she minds, we have always shared!)  Last weekend Robert and I had our first night out without little one.   I will admit, we are three peas in a pod now, and we sure missed our little pea!  We went to Robert's holiday work party at La Hacienda Ranch.  (It was a makeup from back in December.)   The Covington Crew gladly took in an extra kiddo (what's one more, right, they said...I'm pretty sure she might be more like and extra 1.5 kiddos though :) )  But I know one thing, she loves her cousin time, clearly it has some benefits!  Somehow, I don't think she missed us like we missed her! ha
Three of my favorite girls...  Looking at Kate always tells me where Maddie will be next year at about this time.  SLOW DOWN time, SLOW DOWN...
This girl loves her Aunt K, and her milk!
 Bed time stories...
Somehow these three don't look like they are ready to say "night night"!
Grateful that we are on the other side of illness (atleast I hope so) and grateful for having the gift of family.  Here's to a better, healthier week ahead!  I know this mama is ready to say "Night Night!"
