Well, the countdown has come to and end!
Christmas Eve carries a special place in my heart, it was actually when we opened gifts as children. Growing up daughters of a dairyman it made more sense to open at night rather than the AM when the cows needed to be milked! Plus, no bed head pictures at the Escobar household, haha.
For now, we open whenever most convenient. Who knows what we adopt in a few years. This year, we opened gifts at home Christmas Eve early AM.
Maddie got a bike from Santa this year.
Maddie has a cruising buddy.
...or two.
That Silly Papa!
She also get this big boy!
Nana and Papa were able to sweep in and see her open gifts at our house. Bless their hearts, they left at the crack of dawn to make it in time to beat our early riser up, I told them to just travel in PJs that way they would fit right in!
She LOVES it. We already moved it to the playroom to make sure it fit (held my breath on that one!) In the last several months, Maddie has really started enjoying playing with dolls more, so this gift was a no brainer. Thanks Nana and Papa!
You know, with a house that size, you need more dolls.
More randomness.
Her own luggage, she LOVED it. We already made use of it as we packed up our stuff to head to family's houses to celebrate later.
Some games.
Someone stepped up her opening skills this year, NO help needed!
Showing Papa her Rapunzel dress.
Robert got himself a little something :)
These two are so Maddie, she is so animated, haha.
Another HUGE hit...Melissa and Doug's Cutting set. Go figure. She almost had the book complete within an hour of opening it.
We then packed up and headed to Aunt K and Uncle Curt's for Christmas 2.0. Maddie did not mind leaving her new toys when she had the promise of seeing her cousins soon.
We spent the day playing, then we had Christmas dinner. This year we had a Mexican style dinner, it was delicioso, gracias mi hermana, Kaimi!
After all that cooking, it was time for a little siesta.
We then got to honor the favorite time honored tradition of opening one gift on Christmas Eve.
Feeding the Reindeer.
Reading "The Night Before Christmas"
Everyone then went to bed and hoped we made to "nice" list this year!
Headed down!
Christmas Magic awaits.
Let the madness begin.
Opening presents works up a sweat!
Showing Nana her present to her Mama and Daddy.
Christmas Breakfast, my favorite!
Santa Pancakes.
A little toast to the Christmas season.
Everything is better in FANCY glasses. Sparkling grape juice for breakfast, why yes, I think we will.
Some after breakfast karaoke, more Christmas songs.
Yes, even the adults got a little stage time, as the blog editor, I chose to omit those. We all should stick to our day jobs. :)
After Christmas 2.0, we packed up and headed to Oklahoma City around 2pm, it was a 3 hour drive from Heath. She was out before we got out of Heath.
When we arrived in Oklahoma, a little coloring before MORE eating.
Present time!
We played more after presents then went to bed. Maddie had been fighting a cold and woke not quite herself. We ate breakfast and she spent most of the AM asleep (NOT NORMAL) for her. It was not long before she was throwing up! ugh, Christmas seems to get us every year. She really is a stout little girl, she never gets sick, I think the last time we went to the doctor was her last well visit. But, it seems Christmas seems to be her time of the year. Thankfully she felt better after. We had family pictures set up, she made it through those and then home. Now she is back to herself and playing with her dollhouse! Let's pray tomorrow she feels ok to head back to daycare.
Headed home. It was a good Christmas!
It was a short lived but good Christmas. Next year we will have another little gift to love. NO, I am not adding to the bunch, the Covington Crew will be getting another sweet little boy by this time next year (He is due May 2017).
What a delight to watch to watch the joy of Christmas through the eyes of a child.
The greatest joy of all, is knowing that as a child of God, the inheritance of eternal life awaits. Life here on Earth is hard there is no doubt. This year, our Christmas had smiles, but illness loomed still. One day, there will be no more tears, no more illness, no more death. What a Christmas that will be.
Merry Christmas and God Bless!
