Seda Summer Vacation 2017 -- Watercolor Resort, Seaside Beach, Florida

Seda Summer Vacation 2017

We are back to reality…insert sad face here.  But let me tell you, we enjoyed EVERY.SINGLE. SECOND to its fullest.

Our one family picture.
That's what happens when you don't bring a tripod (for us old schoolers).

If you had rather not read every moment, you can get the Cliffs notes below. (Dad, this part if for you ;) )

Each day we:
1.       Woke to NO alarm clock (and we all managed to sleep past 7 am).
2.      Ate breakfast in our condo.
3.      Put our swimsuits on.
4.      Headed to the beach.
5.      Swam and played until lunch.
6.      Ate lunch in the condo.
7.      NAPPED as a family (again, no alarm clock).
8.      Woke, repeated #3, then swam some more.
9.      Ate dinner at a local place.
10.   Ate ice cream on the board walk.
11.    Came home, put on our PJs and colored and watched TV before bed.
I ended on 11 just because I'm edgy like that, but only on vacation! ;)
And that about sums it up.  Glorious right?!

I brought my computer, but did minimal work, as did Robert.  We only did a few necessary evils to keep things flowing back home.  I also intentionally did not bring any form of readable work or even a book.  I tried to soak up every view, every giggle, every moment that would be just as the ocean waves, here then gone.

This post will totally be picture overload, but that helps me remember.  Sunsets come and go, tans fade…but a good picture, that my friends will last a lifetime.

Packing help.  She has not asked yet, but it won’t be long before she wants her ears pierced!
Florida bound!

I was worried because the forecast called for a LOT of rain.  We saw not one drop the entire time.  It was perfect!

Headed in to Love Field.  This was Maddie’s first flight.  She did great!  It was only 1.5 hours, but, hey, with no wi-fi capability I think that counts as a 3 hour flight!
I wish I could say that with only one child we were jet setters, but, somehow the idea of packing up a stroller/bottles/diapers etc. the last few years sounded anything like a vacation to me.  So we have done a lot of stay-cations and some short local stays at nearby places.  But, seeing how well she did and how easy it is now, I think in the years to come the world is ours to see!
Robert and I are planning a ten year anniversary trip to Bora Bora (cross our fingers it works out) sans our little angel, but after that who knows where the wind will take us.

 My original partner in crime.
This kid fell asleep as we descended.  Haha.
We rented a Tahoe for the week…and walked out to find this…
Yeah, I had Robert go back in and ask for a redo, haha!
Waiting on Daddy to work his magic.
She did fall in love with this car seat though.  It won't be long before we are out of the 5 point harness my love.
The Condo. It was perfect for us!

Yeah, this room was left untouched.  Let’s just say it was LOTS of family together time…and I would not have it any other way.
The first morning I woke at 5, thought about trying to knock out some work, then I heard something much sweeter than the ocean waves crashing on the beach…the sweet sound of the two I love breathing, so peacefully sound asleep.  It was at that moment I decided work would wait.

Headed out for Day 1 at Santa Rosa Beach at Watercolor Resort.  We have been there before and even stayed in a condo next door to one that we stayed the last time we went.

Who could doubt there is a God above when you see a picture with these two beauties in them?
Taking a break from the sun!
Back at it, looking for those seashells for Nana!
Grocery shopping at the local Publix for the week.  We also stocked up on beach toys!  We ended up eating in that night, after traveling/beach/shopping, we were tired.  But hey, no itineraries here!
Oh, and we painted our nails!  Matching bright pink nails, why yes, I think we will!  I never paint my nails bright colors.  I think because I am not allowed to paint them in the OR, then when I am off, I am unaccustomed to seeing any color on them so I usually gravitate toward neutral shades.  But Maddie broke me out of my comfort zone, and I enjoyed them!

DAY 2.
We woke, ate and put on our swimsuits to head back out to the beach.

This child LOVED the beach…and the ocean.  We played in the sand, built sand castles, buried Daddy in the sand, and looked for seashells for Nana.
Some of our findings.
Hot days in the sun makes for good naps in the cool!
After our naps we headed back out each day.  The one thing Maddie did NOT like was putting back on a cold bathing suit…hence multiple bathing suits each day.  Haha.  But I must confess, I am the same way!  Speaking of bathing suits, we are thankful to Katie-belle.  All of here swim suits were hand-me downs.  I must confess, I let summer slip up on me this year!

Snacking at the beach.

Me and my other love.

Dinner at Great Southern Café.  This was my favorite of the trip.  Robert had Surf and Turf, I had the best Mediterranean Salad of my life (Maddie agreed seeing as how she ate half of it).  Maddie had chicken nuggets and French fries.  YUMMY!

A little shopping on the square of Seaside, Florida.

Playing with our loot.
Yes, those are crazy teeth and a whoopie cushion you see...wearing a mermaid costume.  Great, Robert teaching her to be a true lady.
Day 3.
Headed back out to the beach!  Couldn't get enough of God's natural beauty.

Maddie made a beach friend, Easton.  They loved building sand castles and mud pies together!

Pool time!

We then headed out for a little shopping.  Our nap extended a little longer than we planned so we missed the the last call for canoers to head out on the lake.  I know, rough life it was. Sooo, we chose to do a little shopping at a local outlet mall.  Mama got a few early bday presents! :)
Oh, this was our exchanged car.  :)

 The condo front.

We drove in late, so we stopped at a local diner, Pickles, right on the ocean boardwalk.

Robert told Maddie to make a silly face and she said "No!  I only do pretty faces for Nana!" Ha.

 Last Day of the beach.

Strong waves it was on the last day!

 ...and pool.
Making the most of it...all of us.
Three of my favorite S's...Sedas, Sun, and SALTY DOGS!
Well, this was the bummer of the trip.  We headed from the beach to the lake in hopes of taking a kayak out...mind you I had been hyping this up all week to Maddie.  BUT, we were turned away because they were shutting down early for a wedding!????? Boo.
But hey, cannot rain on our parade.  We cruised around town, enjoyed the sites and of course took a nap.  My payback for grabbing a napping picture of Robert.
We then headed out for a night stroll and dinner.

We ate some gelato after dinner, then headed home and watched TV in our princess outfit, isn't that how everyone spends a Saturday night?
Sunday AM was the only day we set an alarm.  We packed and headed to the airport.  Maddie was worn out.  Here she was literally falling asleep on me as we waited on Robert to return the rental.
A little candy at the airport woke her up!
She has her Daddy wrapped around her little finger.

Now an experienced flyer.  She asked for gum "so my ears don't pop" Ha.
She did want me to hold her hand on the way down.
 Trying to spot our luggage.
Modeling her new jewelry.
Let me tell you, she spent a LONG time picking out select souvenirs!

And then that was it, we left a slice of paradise and returned to our home sweet home.
I will be honest, summer 2017 will be remembered as a very trying one for
me.  But this is my ray of sunshine from it.  As I have said many times on this blog, I have always been one who believes in quality over quantity...and this was just that, a small number of very quality days that I will cherish for a lifetime.

This week was a drink of much needed water for a very thirsty soul.
I thank God for it.
