15 Months and Growing!
Tricks and Treats!
Walking -- Maddie started walking right at 13 months old. We always thought that she would walk early as she rolled over early, she has always been on the small side, and she has a muscular build (like her mama and papa!) BUT girlfriend just took her time. She cruised right on past 12 months and still nothing...just a cruising she went. I think it was because she is SOOOO cautious. I think she has only bumped her little noggin one time in her life, mainly because she only does what she knows is safe. Ah, a girl after my own heart! But, I will say, that now she has started walking there is no looking back. She is OFF! Well, in stores at least. When we are home and her mama needs to get some unpacking done, she is latched onto my hip. I like to call her my little Joey! Oh well, one of these days I will be wishing for my little "sidekick." She has not started running yet, but she sure is trotting!Talking -- Now that I have been home with Maddie, I feel like she is a lot more chatty. She babbles away. She is saying "Dada", "Mama", "up", "Dog", "Tank oo", and "Cat". She will also bark like a little dog (it sounds more like a little Chihuahua!), and moo like a cow. She LOVES her Baby Can Read Video and everyday since I have been home we work on flash cards. I want to make sure she is top of her class when we start Primrose this August. :)
Signing -- We have also been working on signing. She has gotten "more" down and occasionally "all done." She puts her arms up to say, "Get me outta this high chair!" Though I am not sure that is in the signing books! She is also quite the little pointer. I spend most of my days taking her to see things that she points, too! She is so inquisitive. I call her my little eagle eye, there is not much that can get past that girl!
More Tricks...
She loves playing peek-a-boo and chase, riding in her stroller, swinging, petting her puppy (her FAKE puppy), doodling, and turning the lights on and off.
This is her after swinging almost 45 mintues! Mama was getting hot at this point, so this is her unhappy face after the swing started to slow down!
But, there was a diversion of the tantrum that I am sure was about to ensue when a puppy came along! This is how she stares until they have disappeared from her sight!
She has become quite the little mimic. Anything we do, we turn around and the next day see her doing it! She likes to try and put on her own shoes (and mine), to brush her teeth/comb her hair, and even pretend stir (though I am not sure who she saw doing this! haha)
Such a big girl...pushing the cart like Daddy!
She is also Daddy's alarm clock!
This month she is gotten much better at putting things up as well. Prior to now, it was all about taking toys OUT of the box, now she puts them back...well, sometimes. She can stack 4 blocks and pick the a grain of salt off of the floor (ok, maybe not a grain of salt, but almost!). Her fine motor skills really are impressive I think!
Simon Says -- Commands she now follows
1. Point to Mama/Daddy's/your bellybutton
2. Arms Up!
3. Point to your nose
4. Open your mouth
5. Pet the puppy
6. Take this to Mama/Daddy
7. Wave
8. Clap
9. Peek-a-boo!
10. High Five!
Eating -- she is such a good little eater, though her stats won't echo that below!
She LOVES protein. She must have gotten that from her daddy. She loves chicken, bacon, sausage, turkey...you name it. Girlfriend doesn't want much to do with carbohydrates like breads...oh, this poor child, she does not know what she is missing. She does love vegetables. Her favorite thing now is broccoli (we eat that just about every night!) She also loves fruits...her favorite fruit this month is blueberries. More favorites: Greek Yogurt, Sour Patch Kids, Kiwi, and Strawberries. But, possibly her top pick is....CHEESE!
She is now weaned off of breast milk (add a teardrop from mama here). This occurred right at about 14 months. We had a hard time getting her drink cow's milk. We tried everything...4% milk (which the pediatrician recommended to help her gain weight), 2%, 1%, chocolate milk...and still nothing. She wanted NOTHING to do with it. So finally, we found a concoction that she likes (half 2% milk and half vanilla pediasure!). She has about 18 ounces per day and then pretty much eats what we eat. She is also a good water drinker. But nothing compares to SONIC ICE. If she hadn't just had her hemoglobin checked I would be worried that she was anemic!
Any walk is made better with ICE :)
"Just My Size" -- She is still in her size 3 diapers and wears 9-12 month clothes. She now likes wearing shoes (except in the car) and just graduated to a size 3. She really needs about a 2 and a half, but it won't be long before 3's are snug!
Things Maddie does NOT love...
See for yourself!
NO!!!!!
Her carseat...except when it is out of the car apparently.
Well, that about sums it up for now! Hopefully lots more new tricks and treats ahead! Here are some Sunday pictures and Stats!
Melt my heart...
